We purchased 2 of these cards last August, one to be used with a Nikon D40x, and one for a new Nikon D5000. The one being used in the D40x became unreadable within a few weeks, although we were able to recover the images with recovery software after much frustration and some expense in time and money. The one being used in the D5000 survived about a year, but just became unreadable as well. Fortunately, they were not critical pictures. Buy something else. I did, and I’ll let you know how the SanDisk I just ordered works out….

I just got this computer and set it up last night. Just had to comment how great so far! Everything was very easy to configure. It took me longer to take apart my old computer equipment that has to set this up again! I was surprised to discover that the keyboard and mouse that come with it are wireless. I did not expect this. But it comes with the wireless provider to connect the rear, so it’s good. I actually prefer my old trackball mouse, so it will probably get an adapter for that (this machine uses only USB ports) and do not use the wireless mouse. I also have a very old printer with the old style of attachment (the points with a screw on each side). But I know I can get an adapter for that as well, and to a USB port on this new computer. I had no problems connecting to my existing cable internet at all. I can not wait to explore more ‘on it!

I got the book, read the tear dropping story about Uncle Josch and the whole chapter how wonderful Linspire is as compared to Miscosoft OS, how CHEAPER it is. I went to Linspire web site before I decided to buy the book with CD and they have they list of system requirements which gives you an idea that any PC/laptop capable to boot from CD and having sufficient amount of RAM and HD space will work. I tested Freespire before and it booted.I found the truth only on page 29 of the book with “nice” list of Linspire hardware “must nots”.Both of my two desktops and a laptop are dual core processor machines and I will have to get a multiprocessor capable Linspire kernel from Linspire web site. Here goes the cheap part out of the door, just do the math. If you did not buy the software on their web site and got it from somewhere else, free support is not available, even for the installation problem. The cost of “cheap” is $29.99 per incident and then up to $149.xx for a year of suppor, search option in forum is next to nothing and I spent hours looking for the solution. I came across some posts in other Linux forums where people had same problem I did an no effective solution offered. I am not a geek, even worse, I am a blond and my little ASUS eee running Xandros is pink. My 65 year old husband is pretty much like Uncle Josch and I wanted to help him to enjoy his new PC by replacing Vista with Linspire. I ended up spending time working on with Vista, reinstalled the OS and twicked it with effective FREE help from Microsoft web site, and his machine is running smooth and fast now. I did not give up on Linux, but I feel tricked by the author of Guide to Linux.He should put the compatibility requirements at least in fine prints in his ad instead of just collecting money from dummies l

Recently, mini laptop computer manufacturers have decided to focus on a much younger crowd. When I say “a much younger crowd”, I’m ‘not’ talking about college students or high school students – I’m talking about children in elementary school and middle school – kids ranging in age from six years old to 12 years old.

One of the world’s largest and well-known PC manufacturers has come out recently with the announcement that they’re going to be releasing mini laptop computers for kids. Many in the industry believe that HP’s decision to come out with their own brand of mini laptop computer for children is a direct reaction to the success of competitor Asus’ Eee mini laptop computer. The Eee laptop computer has been highly successful ever since its release; in fact, it has become a huge top seller. The Asus Eee features a seven inch screen. However, the company does not refer to it as a laptop computer – instead, they refer to it as a (super mobile internet device). It has taken the industry by storm and has solidified itself as a favorite of middle-school children. Asus is now seeing an influx of competitors now trying to muscle in on a piece of the market.
